Rig: Mayer strat, Reissue Blues Deluxe, 6 ft DiMarzio cable. Mic: Shure SM57 This is my new rig and it is sweet! The guitar and amp were bought from American Musical. (They provide a year of extended warranty at no additional charge). The JM strats in Olympic White were back ordered so I had to wait a bit. But it was worth it. The guitar was FLAWLESS out of the box. I recorded three audio tracks for this video. Each in one take. Came out ok I guess. I usually do better in slow dancing in a burning room though. I left the guitar's tone and volume on 10 throughout the entire recording so you can hear the unadulterated tone. For the lead in Riviera Paradise, all I did was raise the volume on the amp a couple of notches from... like 4 to 6. The measurements I took were taken from the 15th fret. This was the standard factory action with 10s on them . This action is a little too high for my tastes. I restrung the guitar with Ernie Ball 9s and lowered the action. Now it plays perfectly. (Yes, I know thicker strings sound better but after playing with everything from 8s to 13s, I prefer 9s.) BTW, I recently discovered the awesomeness of short DiMarzio cables (they offer the best tone for the buck) and plugging straight into your amp. Awesome tone! The difference between a 6ft DiMarzio and a 25ft Spectraflex is night and day! Really.

An in-depth demo of Laney's great sounding Lionheart L5T - 112 class A tube amp. After comparing the audio quality of this Youtube vid In 720p HD to the original file on my PC, it is quite clear that Youtube's compression techniques take away some of the audio quality. I hope you still get a good idea of how the amp sounds... The character is still there for the most part... But you really need to go play one in a shop to hear how great this amp sounds as these vids don't do it justice - no matter how much effort went into getting the sound right. Split into 4 parts: Part 1 - Demo of the clean channel Part 2 - Drive channel Part 3 - Sound clips of both channels without backing track Part 4 - A closer look around the amp I've just improvised over the backing track so you'll have to excuse some sloppy playing! It's a demo of the amp not me!!!
